Unique Custom Double Strand Mother's Bracelet

I received an email a few weeks ago from a mom who wanted a custom mother's bracelet. She had an idea and we emailed back and forth, via etsy, until we figured it all out. She wanted mostly silver, a touch of gold, some pearls and a variety of silver beads. She also wanted some Swarovski Crystal charms on the end with their birthstones.

I laid out the entire bracelet design on a bead board and sent her a photo. I loved the way it turned out. I was glad that our minds were working alike. Most people want more crystals and more pearls, so this was a first! She had a great idea and here is her custom double strand mother's bracelet from Belly Charms. It shipped yesterday. I love it!

The New "Me" - It Is Time For A Change

A big transformation is about to begin. I am ready for something new. Maybe it is a midlife crisis. I am 39 now - eek. Don't worry, I am not going to dye my blonde hair black or get new body piercings.... nothing too drastic. You see, I started my blog in April 2010. For those of you that follow me, well you know my blog has basically been the same.

It is time for some excitement around here for this WAHM. I have tweeked the layout a little here and there, but I have had the same header, background and button. For at least 6 months I have been thinking I was ready for a change.

Just the word "wordpress" was scary for some reason. LOL But now I am being brave. I have entrusted my blog to Wacky Jacqui's Designs. So I did not want you to be surprised if you stop by in the next week or so and things look TOTALLY different. Just so you know you are, indeed still at Belly Charms - the blog, I thought I should give you a peek at the new "me."

After days of searching images, I finally found one that I liked and that I had not seen on another blog. So without further delay.....here is the new "me" for my blog!

Plus the green colors match my BellyCharms.com website and I am trying to tie the looks of them together a little more. So...what does my family think of the new me? I showed them all the image and this is what I got:

Hubby looks at it and says. " Hey, that looks like you." - Good answer honey!!!

My 4 year old looks at it and says. " That does not look like you mommy."

My 5 year old was too busy to look at it:)

My opinion of the new me - If I had shorter hair, no bangs, skinnier arms and slightly bigger boobs...it would look just like me....or not.:) But I think she is cool:) Plus I do live in Florida. I don't even own a scarf, but it looks nice blowing in the breeze:)

Sandi Update- She is doing great

I just had a very sweet blogger tweet me to ask about Sandi. You see I have been a bad sister and have not updated her page since June. Mainly because there have been no changes. Which is great. I just updated Sandi's Fight for Life and with it is a brand new picture of my beautiful sister and her hair. Yes I said Hair:)

UPDATE - October 2011. Sandi is doing good. She is still undergoing chemo once a month. The brain tumor is still stable - which means it is not growing and she is slowly getting her hair back. Here is a new photo of her taken this month. I think she looks beautiful!!

A Different Kind of Dream Last Night

This is a cute story. I have this little ritual with the boys. Every morning when they get up I always ask them what they dreamed about. Big A almost always dreams about Construction Equipment:)

Little C for at least 2 years has answered with the same thing. He has a train and firetruck themed bedroom. He LOVES trains! So much to the fact that instead of Thomas, he will tell you his middle name is "Thomas the choo choo."

This morning was just like any other morning. I woke him up, cuddled up next to him in bed and asked:
"Did you have sweet dreams"

"Yes" he answered

"What did you dream about?"

( I was expecting the same answer I always get which is "choo choos and firetrucks")

But do you know what he said to me......

"I dreamed about Transformers"

I was totally shocked " You dreamed about Transformers??"

"Yes mommy......sometimes big kids dream about Transformers."

Well now I know. I guess my 4 1/2 year old is trying to tell me he is turning into a big kid now. Too cute! I wonder what his answer will be in the morning.

Just email me, tell me what you want it to say, what colors you like and then I will email you back with the information I need from you: size, clasp, colors, exact personalization etc.... Easy!!

I offer sterling silver, sterling silver mixed with antique silver and Tierracast options so I am able to offer custom personalized Mother's bracelets in all budgets. I introduced some of the Tierracast bracelets earlier this year and they have been very popular. I only use Swarovski Crystals and Swarovski Pearls.

My Favorite flipflop Wine - Perfect for Football Games

Yes you read that right....I said perfect for football games. I must tell you that the Moscato flipflop wine is the BEST bottle of wine I have ever tasted. It is a sweet wine and I loved it.

As a matter of fact, I thought it was so good that after I finished the first bottle, I sent my husband out a few days later to find another bottle for me. Luckily he found one at our local grocery store.

So this past Saturday night we had a normal football party. Most people were sipping on beer, but not me. I had my wine glass all decked out with a Woozie from my favorite team (Roll Tide) and filled with some nice and chilled Moscato.

I must tell you my friends were shocked to see me sipping on wine, but this is delicious! Don't believe me? Here is my glass:)

Lots of Changes and a New Online Boutique - Belly Charms Behind The Scenes

I have been so busy the last few weeks. I have traded lots of sleep hours to work and I have made a few big business decisions. I am now going to tell you all about them. As a mom and business owner, I am looking at operating cost, advertising costs, SEO...and of course what sells and what doesn't. I don't have Belly Charms LLC as an extra source of income. It is my source of income. So here is what is going on.

BellyCharms.com is my main website, always has been and always will be. I am still working out some design issues on there to make it even better. EXCITING NEWS - I have a feature ad in Fit Pregnancy Magazine next month for Pregnancy Belly Button Rings (happy dance) - so I want everything to be perfect!!

For the first time.....I am introducing my newest online shop Belly Charms Boutique - or BC Boutique for short. I decided to start a new commercial artfire studio. I have a lot of great items that are not handmade and this is the perfect opportunity for me to get the word out.

Most of these items are available on my main Belly Charms website that I started in 2007. The direct URL to this shop is BellyCharmsBoutique.com so it will be easy to get to on artfire. I am most excited about adding Parking Pal Magnets. I have a few on here now. I will have these listed in BC Boutique and for sale on BellyCharms.com next week.

How to Tell The Difference Between a Monster, Alien and Ghost

Little C, who is 4 is full of information lately. Last night we were in the bathroom brushing his teeth and out of nowhere this conversation began.

" Mommy, if something only has one eye it is a monster or an alien."

My reply " OK, did you learn that at school today." (giggle)

"No Mommy, I learned it from the Scooby-Doo movie you got me........And you know what else? If something does not have legs it is a spooooky ghoooost."

On the wall in his classroom they had a big list where each child listed things they were afraid of. Most of them had snake, spiders, the dark - things like that. Of course a few little boys had "I am not afraid of anything."

Well Little C had a list of things he was afraid of - Skeletons, Monsters, and Spooky Ghosts. I think I am going to have to limit his Scooby-Doo watching this week:)

Three Things I Learned This Morning at Kindergarten

This morning I volunteered for my son's Kindergarten class. I walked away from Belly Charms for the whole morning and was in 100% mom mode. Today was his teacher's birthday. She is young, pretty and just amazing.

Most of the children had made birthday cards for her and left them in their folder. She was very surprised. Since I am the "Class Mom," I emailed all of the parents to let them know today was her birthday. It was great.

So I had a job to do. I was so draw and cut out leaves. Me draw? I can draw stick people! These were on various Fall colors of construction paper and they were to count and sort them for their math project today. Now I have ZERO artistic ability, even my hand writing is horrible. I was a little nervous I would flop on my first volunteer job.

So I did my job. I cut out over 100 leaves and sorted them into ziplock bags. I gave them to the teacher and told her that they were "pretty terrible leaves." She smiled and told me they were perfect and that "Kindergartners don't judge":)

This is what I learned today at school

1) Kindergartners are very smart. They are doing now what I did in first grade many years ago. They are cute as can be when singing their "Months of the Year" song....oh, and they don't judge moms who cut out bad fall leaves:)

2) This one teacher has more control over a class full of 5 year olds than I do over my 2 boys:) I was very impressed. How does she do that?? She is not even a mom yet?

3) Balloons are not allowed in the classroom - seriously. I had to leave her birthday balloons in the office. Something about helium and a fire hazard or something like that....well now I know. She got them after school.

If you have a child in school and can volunteer, it is worth taking a few hours off of work and going in. Big A was so excited I was there and it is really a treat to see them learning and interacting with each other. Take a "mom day." You will be glad you did.

Is There a Full Moon Tonight - Strange Findings in my Google Alerts

I love my Google Alerts. I have been finding some really strange things lately. For the keyword "Pregnancy Belly Button Rings" I got an alert for 2 different posts tonight.

You will read these and say, What the ____?? These are clearly keyword stuffed posts that basically say absolutely nothing. And I mean nothing. There or course were some links. Did someone actually pay someone to write a post that is so keyword stuffed it makes no sense at all.

These strange posts are normally where I find my stolen images. Tonight the 2 posts were so "off the beaten path" that I had to share them. I took screen shots. I don't want this strange text associated with my blog - LOL.

So here are some things that make you go hmmmm. I mean really!! They are a little small, so slide up close to your monitor and read a little nonsense for a chuckle.

Something That Really "Irks" Me - Being Unprofessional

I am not 100% sure that "Irk" is even a word - but I am irked!! Here is why....I mailed a review item to a blog months ago - like June. I had to email this blogger about 4 times before she finally responded that she got the item. A few months later, I had to email her numerous times before I got a reply on when the review/giveaway would actually post. ( I was not having a warm and fuzzy feeling about this now)

Finally a fantastic review posted. I was happy.....until it ended and the ball dropped again.

The giveaway ended....I never heard from the blogger on who won. The winner posted on my wall that she won. I again emailed the blogger a few times before I got a response. And get this, when she did respond, she emailed me the wrong winner. (I saw the winner's name on her blog - I just needed her email address)

I emailed her back with a screen shot of the winner announcement that was on her blog!!! She admitted she emailed me the wrong winner and said she would get back to me with the correct winner's email address. This was about a week ago and still no response.

I found the winner's post on my wall and messaged her directly through facebook. She too has emailed this blogger with no response. I am emailing the winner the gift code tomorrow even though the blogger has never had the courtesy of sending me the winner's name and/ or email.

I am BUSY!! I run a business all by myself, I blog, I have 2 kids, we have soccer practices, we have homework, I teach aerobics....I am class mom for goodness sakes. Did I say I was busy!! I should not have to track down my own winners. So I am irked!!!! This makes Belly Charms look bad! Lucky for me the winner has had no luck either and she appreciates the fact that I have now taken the blogger out of the loop and am dealing with the winner directly.

I am a nice person, so I will just leave it at that. My winner will be taken care of!!! I don't care how busy you are. If you host a giveaway listing my business as the sponsor, you pick a winner...AND you email the winner's name me. It is not a hard process. That is all. I have vented. The Real Saturday of a WAHM - Relaxing?? Not

When I was in the regular working world with a "real" job, I always looked forward to the weekend. I might add that I was a total workaholic back then. I was managing Health Clubs and then teaching aerobics classes and training clients before and after work.

Mainly because I was also a single girl living in an expensive apartment on the border of Boca Raton and Delary Beach...but regardless. I worked my butt off. I lived with my cat. She was great company, but with bills, not much help.

I got up at 5:20 AM every single morning for at least 15 years and was in the gym by 6:00. I usually taught classes on Saturday and Sunday too - but that was the work I liked. I loved my weekends. I had some down time to hang out with my cat and relax. I had 2 loads of laundry to do. That is it.

I still love my weekends but now that I own my own business and have a husband and 2 kids, my weekends are, well how do I put it...nothing like what weekends should be. Not that that is bad, it is just part of being a mom. This will probably be my only post for the next 36 hours and this is why. Here is what I have planned for my "relaxing weekend" or should I just say my "relaxing Saturday."

* Right this second it is almost midnight. I still have to write this post and print all of my shipping labels for today's orders. If I am not too tired, I will make a few maternity belly button rings. I am guessing about 5 hours sleep - if I am lucky, so here we go.....

Saturday

5:30 AM - my adorable Mini Dachshund will wake me up to go out. I will get a flashlight, do a snake check, then let him out to pee. Then I will have to also let the Chocolate Lab out because she will hear us. The Dachshund sleeps with me. The Lab sleeps in her crate in Big A's room.

5:35 AM Before the Lab comes out, I must find my 2 cats and put them in the master bedroom where hubby is still sleeping and shut the door. My Lab is BIG and my cats are scared of her...so they split the house. When the Lab sleeps, my cats can roam the house freely.

5:45 AM - Feed the dogs ( assuming there were no snakes) and then I go get in the bottom bunk of Little C's bed. There both dogs will jump in bed with me and we will sleep for a few more minutes. Every minute counts.

7:00 AM - My iPhone alarm goes off. It sounds like crickets chirping. Little C has a soccer game at 8:00. I wake up the house and we struggle to get out the door and bring soccer team snacks.

8:00 - Soccer Game - 2 teams of six four year olds - Adorable!!!

9:00 - Head home and I frantically pack orders so I can get them shipped out before noon. Husband will keep the kids busy so I can work.

11:00 - Big A has a soccer game - 5 year olds - Cute again!!

( totally off subject - it is midnight and my business phone just rang. I did not answer it. It is midnight!!!!)

12:00 - 6:00 PM

Head back home from the fields and have some lunch.
Work out
Do about 4 loads of laundry
Keep the boys entertained
Clean the house
Check emails and orders, reply if necessary
Do 2 product review for blog
Feed the Dogs
Feed the Cats
Feed the Kids
Feed the Husband ( kidding, he feeds himself)
Clean again because the kids have made a huge mess
Panic because I am running out of time

6:00 PM - Put my boys in front of the TV with a movie so I can shower and clean up. I may have a Sugar Free Red Bull at this point. I have to really get fixed up. This includes temporary tattoos - you see Alabama plays Florida at 8:00 and we are having a party. I live in Gator Country and I am an Alabama Girl!!!!

6:45 PM Dress the boys in PJ's, as the other parents are doing too, just hoping that someone will fall asleep at some point during the evening

7:00 PM Company starts getting here. Hubby is picking up wings....I am popping and Ice Cold Beer:) I think I deserve it at this point! Oh and putting it in my Alabama drink holder of course:)

8:00 PM Kick Off of the Alabama vs. Florida game- with a house full of people. Hoping the kids all play good!!

Then after the fun is over. We will clean up, tuck the boys in bed, and then I will put on my PJ's and come back in my office to print orders, check emails, reply to comments....and whatever else needs to be done. Taking a night off can put me way behind. Wheew!!!

Moms with Belly Button Rings - More Common Than You Think

I think I was 28 when I got my belly button pierced. I had a personal training client at the gym I managed in Boca who was in her late 30's. She had a killer body, 3 kids and a cool belly button ring. I asked her where she got it done. A few weeks later I bravely walked into the Tattoo Parlor/ Piercing Studio in West Palm Beach and got my belly button pierced.

I am from a small town in Alabama. I will never forget the look on my parents faces when I showed it to them. Needless to say they had never seen a belly button ring. A few years later I took my younger sister Sandi to get hers pierced for her 26th birthday. Hey, that is what big sisters do.

I loved my belly button ring then, and now, 11 years and 2 kids later....I still love it. Yes I am 39. I wear my belly button ring proudly, and I have no plans to ever take it out. I honestly think my stomach looks funny without it. So there!

I was just reading a pregnancy forum where the discussion was "being pregnant with a belly button ring." There were about 3 girls who commented that they really loved their belly button ring and hated to let it go because they were pregnant.....but they felt they may be getting a little old for a belly ring anyway - they were all in their mid to late 20's...did you hear me, 20's! WTH!

I know lots of awesome ladies who did not even start having children until they were in their 40's. How is 29 too old for anything- LOL?? 29 is a great age! I mean really ladies - 29 is not too old for a belly button ring.

I wanted to go in and comment to "set them straight about a few things" but this lovely forum won't let me and I don't have an hour to spend filling out the whole registration form to be able to comment - ugggg! I know I am in the business, but it is amazing to me that so many ladies with belly button rings don't know about pregnancy belly button rings now days. Trust me, I have been busting my butt for the last 4 years to tell everyone about them:)

My boys think my belly button ring is "cool". Most of the summer I was wearing a Ferido Swaroski Crystal Belly Button Ring. It was pink, with lots of crystals. I had lots of girls of all ages tell me it was "pretty" while I was at our neighborhood pool with my boys.

So here is a hot mom with a belly button rings for you:)

Crystal is a Mom of 4, yes I said 4, who still has a belly button ring and a killer stomach too! Her blog is 3 Princes and a Princess 2. I bet her kids think it is cool:)

I am also a big Alabama football fan and on game day the Script A, Alabama belly button ring goes in. Roll Tide! So here it is for you.....I am a 39 year old mom of 2 boys. I am Kindergarten class mom (yes I am) and I proudly wear my belly button ring! My husband already posted this picture on facebook during the Alabama game on Saturday, so I figured I might as well post it here too - complete with watermark for any image thieves out there!

I know body piercings are totally a personal preference. Some people love them and others hate them. I am not saying moms should go out and get their belly buttons pierced by any means. I am just saying that there are lots of moms out there with belly button rings hidden under their clothes:)

Last year word got out at my boy's preschool that I sold belly button rings. Well I soon found out that BOTH of their teachers, and few other school employees, all had their belly buttons pierced. I bet I was the only mom who gave crystal belly button rings to teachers for gifts:) Yes I did, and they loved them!!!

A Website Used My Image Without Permission - See What I Did

Last year I found several sites using my maternity belly button ring photos. If they linked to Belly Charms, that was great. The ones that just "stole" my images are the ones that made me upset. That was an eye opener and since then I have been watermarking everything I use on my blog and Belly Charms website.

Last night it happened again. In my Google Alerts, there was one that caught my eye....lots of times these are just "articles" that stuff keywords and are totally useless. This one had a pregnancy belly button rings link..I clicked it and saw 3 photos on top. This was the last photo.

Mine! Mine! Mine! I made the pregnancy belly rings, I took the photo and it was on her post which directed to another pregnancy belly button ring site - I was pissed to say the least. So I left a comment on the post that said this:

Hi,
I am the owner of Belly Charms LLC and the image on the top right of the 3 crystal belly button rings is mine! I made these, I took the photo! If you want to use it, I would like for it to link to
http://www.bellycharms.com. If not, please remove my image from this site immediately. Thank you and I would appreciate a prompt reply.

I tried to be nice. I never expected a reply, but I saved the link. Well I was wrong. I just got this back.

That is all it said. I checked and the image was now linked to BellyCharms.com. So who knows where she found my image, but I am glad to know it is now linking to me.

What To Do If Your Dog Is Bitten By A Snake

First of all, neither of my dogs have been bitten by a snake. We have seen enough snakes over the last year and a half since we relocated to N. Florida that I am paranoid, especially with my dog being so little. I always do a snake check before the kids or dogs go out back because we live on a retention pond (in Florida these are called lakes...but it is not a lake:)

A few weeks ago I was taking my Mini Dachshund out back to go to the bathroom. Of course it was about 4:30 am. So I stepped out the back door, barefooted in my PJ's, dog in my arms and looked down to see a little snake about 2 feet from me.

By the time I got my shoes on and got the garden hoe to kill it, well it had crawled away. I don't know what kind it was. Since then I have been on the look out. It has been raining almost every day for a week now. Last night my husband was taking the dogs out around 8:30 and before he got out the door he saw a snake laying on the back patio. We tried to kill it, but it crawled into our bushes. It was dark and our flashlight sucked. This one was little and got away. I bravely stood in a chair barefooted, in my PJ's yet again, and shined a flashlight for my husband.

This is my back patio and the snake was here!

Well this morning I got up to take my little dog out about 6:30 am. The big Chocolate Lab was still asleep. I was paranoid about the little snake so I again picked up my little dog. I took one step out looked both ways and froze.

A snake about 3 feet long was laying on the patio about 6 feet from me. Total Panic!! I am really terrified of snakes. A neighbor of ours was bitten a few months ago by a copperhead and spend 3 days in the hospital.

I woke my husband and we killed it. I know some people love snakes and only want to kill the bad ones, but I have 2 small children and 2 dogs. I am not taking any chances. They all bite and I don't want them in my yard.

Seeing 2 snakes in less than 10 hours just a few feet out my back door got me thinking...I would have no idea what to do if a snake bit one of my dogs. I love my critters and I would be heartbroken if something happened to one of them. I told hubby I would call 911. Yes I am serious, I would do that.

We actually Googled "What to do if your dog is bitten by a snake" and this is the best link we found. It is short and to the point..... Yes it is on Dummies.com. I hope we never need it, but I now know what to do. I also have the number to an emergency vet handy. We see snakes late at night and very early in the morning. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month - Please Support Emily Hubbel and Share This Post

Emily was diagnosed with Stage IV, High Risk Neuroblastoma Differential, n myc nonamplified, favorable histology on 12/23/2010 and is currently in active treatment. Secondly, I have received a few emails asking how they can help since seeing that we are going to be traveling most like to Boston. While we don't like to really ask for help, the most helpful thing would be gas cards and/or restaurant cards. Radiation will be anywhere between 12-15 business days, we won't know until they complete the review which is scheduled for September 23rd, so we will be there for at least 2.5 weeks or so. Its looking as if it could be mid October when we go, again we have nothing set in date, but we know it could be 2nd or 3rd week of October.
